Alpine image no boot EMMC

  • Hello, we do not provide official support for Alpine. The image available is provided by community members and only supports SPI NAND. The file system format is not compatible with running on eMMC.
  • Hello I am new. I have 40 years experience with embedded C devices. Unfortunately only limited experience with linux aprt from Openwrt. I want to work with Alpine on pico Max, as it think its a perfect fit for making sensors and control devices. I basically think the the time is right to upscale alot of embedded C devices to emebedded linux and then capitalise on the improved software and communication tools that are available. The initial community version of Alpine and Openwrt are limited. WE need SD card support that seems to have been omitted and we will also need Alpine versions of the IO matrix tools. The same applies to Openwrt which is another very suitable OS for the Pico devices. Alpine and Openwrt share the same basic architecture, musl and busybox and now the same package manager. So there are some reasons for considering them togther. For instant a a ported IO matrix utility should work on both. I realise that LuckFox cant support everything but I would ask you to set up an official Alpine and/or combined Openwrt forum groups in this forum that the community can come together in these groups and discuss how to get things improved and documented. It would be nice if you could produce a moderator who has an interest in these OS's and who can represent LuckFox.
  • Hello, and thank you very much for your valuable suggestion.
Unfortunately, we currently have no plans to create dedicated sections for OpenWRT and Alpine. The main reason is that we lack the necessary resources to maintain additional sections, and our team has limited experience with OpenWRT and Alpine.
As seen in the current Luckfox Pico section, most user inquiries still require responses from our team. Finding suitable contributors to help maintain new sections is not feasible in the short term.

While it may be difficult to implement your suggestion at this time, we will continue to monitor these areas closely and explore possibilities as our resources grow. If there are any developments in the future, we will announce them in the relevant sections to keep everyone informed.
