Core1106 Voltage Range

Hello!
I know that the Core1106 module requires 5V on its 5V-Sys pins to operate correctly. I have a working prototype of a custom PCB that supplies this exact voltage and it works great. While experimenting with it, I noticed that the board still worked when I dropped the voltage - all the way down to 2.9V! At 2.8V the board crashed. I was very surprised by this as e.g. Raspberry Pis that are also rated for 5V only can go down to like 4.7V, so this was very impressive.
To simplify the PCB design massively, I'd like to permanently use a lower voltage now as I've seen that it works, I'm thinking around ~3.7V. This would also massively improve efficiency and reduce heat for my design. From my tests this seems to work perfectly fine, but is this low voltage expected to work? Or am I accidentally putting large stress on some component? Or have I just gotten very lucky and normally this would crash? Or are some parts of the Core1106 not working at this voltage and its only the CPU that is still running?
Thanks already for replying and thanks for developing this awesome little board ^^
